If you've lived, worked, visited or received your medical care in the Deer River area, then you've probably heard the story of ordinary people making extraordinary improvements in quality of life for themselves and future generations by building a hospital they could call their own. Brick by brick, fish-fry by fish-fry, donation by donation, Deer River area citizens in the 1950's taught us a valuable lesson - a lesson worth teaching to the next generation...

By joining together, we don't just improve access to excellent community resources, such as healthcare. We also build relationships; we honor those whose contributions have made our success possible; and we celebrate our future through birth, renewal and restoration of health.

Our history is what makes the Deer River area strong. We are a community worthy of quality, compassionate healthcare for life.

Growing Together
The last 50 years have brought tremendous growth to the Deer River HealthCare Center service area, which encompasses many beautiful townships and homes in Northern Minnesota.

DRHC has kept pace with that growth by providing a broad spectrum of unique, high quality services. But by 2007, we were providing those services in an outdated facility with cramped spaces. It was time to expand.

It has taken careful financial management for DRHC to grow and change with the community's needs. When we broke ground on our $11.5 million project, we secured the majority of the funds through revenue bonds, grants and our own investments. Here are some highlights of our expanded facility:

• Hospital Wing with private, spacious rooms and state-of-the-art equipment.

• Surgery Center, complete with operating suites, pre and post operative recovery

and private exit.

• Labor, Delivery, Recovery and Postpartum unit with everything a mother, her

family and her newborn baby need.

• Comfortable patient waiting areas, one level entrance and convenient parking.
