Frequently Asked Questions Q. What are my options for contributing? A. Giving is a very personal choice and a decision to contribute is one that a person
should feel good about once it is made. We encourage you to talk this over with your
spouse and invite you to tour the expansion. You can make a donation to the
campaign in several ways:
• A one time gift
• An annual gift for up to 3 years
Q. May I contribute to a specific special project? A. There are 5 special projects that have been selected as the focus of the
campaign. You may designate your gift to one of them if you wish. These special
projects are:
• MRI Space Build Out
• Education, Training and Community Space
• Chapel
• Landscaping/Courtyard
• Enhancements and Equipment-Nursery/LDRP, Overnight Family Furnishings,
Communication System
Q. How were these special projects selected? A. A fundraising feasibility study was conducted last fall to determine the level of
interest throughout the area in supporting a DRHC capital campaign. Various
project ideas were presented to potential donors at that time. Based on their
feedback, the Board selected these 5 for campaign support.
Q. If the expansion project is almost completed and ready to open, why are funds still needed? A. DRHC is utilizing a USDA low-interest loan of $900,000, $7.75 million in
Revenue Bonds, a $1.5 million grant from the Blandin Foundation along with over a
$1 million investment from DRHC itself to complete the expansion project.
Obviously, the more debt the hospital carries, the higher our monthly interest
payments, which in turn reduces the funds available to develop and expand needed
programs and services for the community. Each of the special projects has been
selected because it goes beyond the planned expansion effort. If funds are not
raised, the projects will be completed over time, but both the community and
employees will need to wait to receive the services and benefits provided.
Q. How will our gifts be recognized? A. All gifts will be recognized on the website and in the annual report at the close
of the campaign. There will also be a donor recognition wall in the lobby of the new
facility. Gifts will be recognized according to levels starting at $500. Levels range
from $500-$999, $1,000-$2,999, $3,000-$4,999, $5,000-$7,499, $7,500-$9,999,
$10,000-$24,000, $25,000-$49,000, and $50,000-$100,000. You may choose to have
your gift recognized or remain anonymous.
Q. Can I contribute in memory or honor of someone? A. Your gift in memory or honor of a loved one will be acknowledged as such on
the donor recognition wall that will be located in the lobby of the new facility.
Q. Will our donations be tax deductible? A. Yes, all donations to the campaign are tax deductible and you will receive a
letter noting that.
Q. Who is being asked to contribute? A. The campaign will be broad based and seek support from DRHC Board
members, staff, volunteers, and community members from throughout the area
including individuals, families, businesses, and organizations. In addition, former
patients, medical providers and key benefactors outside the area will be made aware
of the benefits of the expansion project and solicited for contributions.
Q. Why should I contribute to this campaign? A. DRHC is a community owned and operated facility. It was built with the hard
work and generous donations of our fathers, mothers and grandparents. As both
employees and community members, we all stand to benefit in several ways from
this expansion. Not only will patients be better served, with improved rooms, added
medical services, operating spaces, waiting areas and parking, but employees
will have a better place to work. Your gift shows your support for this facility and
helps Continue the Vision for generations to come.
Thanks for your thoughtful consideration of this campaign.
